    Sens need a power boost

By BARRE CAMPBELL -- Ottawa Sun
The Senators will be trying to break out of an 0-for-22 power-play slump tonight against Florida. Ottawa hasn't scored during a power play in six games.
The last goal with the man advantage came Oct. 9 at home against Toronto, when Wade Redden scored the winning goal in a 4-3 victory.
The team began the year on a torrid 7-for-16 pace in its first four games before falling into the current slump.
"Obviously, it's a concern," said Sens assistant coach Perry Pearn. "The stats really indicate if you're winning the special-teams game, the chance of you winning the game are way up there."
Thursday night's loss to Calgary was an example. Ahead 2-0 after the first period, the Senators allowed two power-play goals early in the second, and the Flames were back in business.
"It's those things that turn games," said Pearn. "They get two power-play goals and it changed the evening for them."
The injury to Daniel Alfredsson has forced the Sens to make adjustments to the power-play personnel, but Pearn said that's not an excuse for being shut out.
"Injuries are part and parcel of every season," he said. "You're going to have to make those adjustments."
