Friday, December 3, 1999 Sens players don't want to leaveEAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CP) -- The announcement by owner Rod Bryden that the Senators were up for sale hit Ottawa players like a rock."(Ottawa) is such a great place to play and nobody here wants to leave to move to the United States," centre Shaun Van Allen told the Ottawa Sun. "We've got great fans here, we get great support and you'd hate to see another team from Canada move to the United States because that just opens the door for another one to go." Defenceman Jason York, an Ottawa native, can't bear the thought of leaving. "I don't want to go and that's not just because I'm from Ottawa," said York. "I want to see this team stay here because I've bought a house in this region and I've settled as part of the community. "Everybody loves playing in front of the fans here. You hope that Mr. Bryden is able to get the kind of support he needs from the federal government to keep the team here. I enjoy Ottawa a lot and hopefully the effort will be made so that the team doesn't have to move." Senators captain Daniel Aldredsson concurred. "I know personally I don't want it to go, because we've got a good thing here with a good team and I've made friends outside of hockey in this city that I'm going to keep forever," he said.
