Martin shows off Olympic silver

Kevin Martin refuses to be haunted by a half-inch.
Just a few days after Martin settled for silver in Salt Lake after his last shot slid a fraction too far in a 6-5 loss to Norway's Paal Trulsen, the Edmonton skip and his team were back on ice at the Players' Championship in Strathroy, Ont., Wednesday night.

Law ponders second shot

The medal that hung around curler Kelley Law's neck was bronze but the Canadian skip is not ruling out taking another shot at Olympic gold.
Law, along with teammates Diane Nelson, Cheryl Noble, Julie Skinner and Georgina Wheatcroft, lost a tough semifinal to eventual gold- medal champion Great Britain and were forced to play for bronze.

British gold-medal winning curlers get big reception
GLASGOW (AP) -- The five Scottish women who won Britain's first Winter Olympics gold medal in 18 years received a rapturous reception from more than a hundred friends and family as they returned to Scotland on Tuesday.
A lone piper played the sportswomen into the red carpet-laid crowded foyer of the Holiday Inn, near the airport terminal.

Canada prepared for everything except losing
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Canada's curlers came into the Olympics with a bunch of world championships, agents, nutritionists, fitness trainers and sports psychologists.
They left with just a silver and bronze medal, as the golds went unexpectedly to Norway's men and four Scottish women representing Britain.
