SYDNEY -- Apparently, Clara Hughes doesn't know how this retirement thing is supposed to work.
Following the women's Olympic individual time trial yesterday, the Winnipegger revealed she's trading in her road bike for a track bike and a pair of speed skates.

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- The American cyclists had a strong kick. By winning two medals on the final day of racing at the Sydney Olympics, they came through with as many medals as they'd predicted.
All of three. Lance Armstrong won a bronze in the men's time trial and Mari Holden took silver in the women's event. Marty Nothstein took the match sprint gold earlier.

Armstrong takes bronze in time trial
SYDNEY (CP) -- Dutch cyclist Leontien Zijlaard won her third gold -- and fourth medal -- of the Sydney Games when she captured the Olympic women's cycling time trial.
Zijlaard covered two circuits of the twisting parkland course, a total of 31.2 kilometres, in 42 minutes flat for a speed of 44.56 km/h. American Mari Holden was 37 seconds behind with French veteran Jeannie Longo taking the bronze, 52 seconds off the pace.
